"The main interest of the text does not lie, as might be expected from a book of accounts, in figures and data .......... first of all, the text has obvious gaps and therefore does not present the entire expenditure. Secondly, the cyphers for the single items some times make doubtful reading. ......Lastly, the accounts kept during six years of preparatory work are not included." ( Introduction-xlii-para-2 )

"The main interest of the text lies in its human and social aspects, presenting as they do, a detailed chronicle of one of the greatest undertakings in the history of Indian Temple building. (Introduction-xliipara-4)

"But the purely human side of this chronicle is perhaps still more fascinating. It is evident that the workmen were no simple mercenaries and still less slaves but were personally and emotionally involved in the creation of the temple. (Introduction-xlii-para-5).

"Yet, towering above all, as the inspirer and driving force behind this entire colosal enterprise was Maharaja Narasingh Dev-I"(Introduction-xIv-para-3)
