'Champu' (IAST: campū, ଚମ୍ପୂ, चम्पूकाव्य) is a popular genre in Classical Indian literature. Any literary work that has parts of prose as well as poetry can be called a 'Champu-kavya'. Along with Sanskrit, it is also found in Odia literature, with multiple works in the genre. Most famous of them is the Kishora-Chandrananda Champu, written by Odia poet and litterateur 'Kabisurya' Baladeba Ratha (c. 1789-1845). Better known as the Kishori Champu, the work consists of the prose in Sanskrit, and the poetry in Odia. The entire text has been set to music by the poet himself and the work continues to be a literary as well as musical treasure.

This is a project in collaboration with the Utkal Sangeet project to bring "champu" authored by Baladeba Ratha in the Odia Wikisource. The poetry has been presented entirely and the entire article on each Champu, with its translation, meanings and other aspects can be accessed from each page by clicking on the given link.
